Fox Rothschild has announced plans to expand the firm's footprint in the Upper Midwest by merging with Minneapolis-based Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP.

The Minneapolis office will be Fox Rothschild's second-largest after its headquarters, and it's only going to get bigger, said Keil, who will continue to lead the office.

"We intend to get after it in January. ... We're going to hit the market hard," Keil said.

The Minneapolis office has enough office space and support from Fox Rothschild to grow back to 100 lawyers or more in the next few years, he said.

Keil said Oppenheimer was " looking for a parter that wanted to continue to grow Minneapolis. That's something that Fox clearly wants to do. ... We can be substantially bigger in this market."

Fox Rothschild's partners voted to approve the acquisition last week. Their counterparts at Oppenheimer accepted the terms Monday.
