Jersey's Companies Law has been amended to introduce administration, a corporate rescue process that enables restructuring of viable businesses while preserving secured creditor rights. This comprehensive modernisation provides Jersey with its first true rescue mechanism, positioning it alongside other leading restructuring jurisdictions and offering an alternative to the previously necessary practice of passporting companies into UK administration.

On 19 June 2026, Jersey introduced a corporate administration regime through the Companies (Jersey) Amendment No. 2 Law 2026.

The States of Jersey adopted Companies (Amendment No 12) (Jersey) Law 202_ (Amendment No 12) on 21 January 2026. CJL 1991 has not been amended by primary legislation since 2014 and Amendment No 12 is an extensive package of modifications to CJL 1991 which enhance the ease of use of Jersey companies and will be welcomed by clients and their advisers.

The latest amendments to the Trusts (Jersey) Law 1984 (Trusts Law) are due to come into force this month and provides helpful clarification for secured creditors in relation to the subordination of the trustee's lien.
