January 4, 2017 - Federal immigration authorities conducted the 1st round of invitations under Express Entry in 2017 and 51st overall, inviting 2902 candidates for permanent residence, a record number. The lowest CRS score was 468, a further decline from previous draws.

January 4th 2017 – Canadian Immigration authorities conducted the 1st round of invitations under Express Entry in 2017 and 51st overall, inviting 2,902 applicants for permanent residence, the highest number ever for the second consecutive draw, under all programs.  The lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 468, a decrease from previous the draw.  It continued the trend set in 2016, when 25 draws were made under the Express Entry System where the lowest CRS score was below 500.

It was the fourth draw since immigration authorities substantially modified the Express Entry CRS.

Express Entry is an immigration system implemented by Canadian immigration authorities ("CIC") on January 1, 2015 which manages skilled worker applications under Federal Economic programs. This includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Skilled Trades Program the Canada Experience Class and certain parts of the Provincial Nominee Program.
