Since 1 July 2012, most insolvency and other notices no longer require print media advertisement. Rather, they must be lodged with ASIC for publication on ASIC's new website for insolvency and other notices.
The types of notices to be lodged with ASIC are:
- notices of winding up applications,
- notices relating to appointments,
- notices of meetings of creditors,
- notices of intention to disclaim property,
- notices calling for proofs of debt and intention to declare dividends, and
- company deregistration (ASIC publishes these notices).
For a guide on how to lodge the notices on the new website and for more general information on this topic, visit the ASIC website.
The content of this article is intended to provide a general guide to the subject matter. Specialist advice should be sought about your specific circumstances.
