WASHINGTON, D.C.—To date, AM radio stations have received more than 1,100 FM translators via an FCC application window. The FM translators have provided a valuable resource to AM stations to reach more listeners and better serve their communities.
Recently, Womble Bond Dickinson telecom lawyer Gregg Skall earned published praise for his work in helping Twin Cities radio station AM 1030 apply for an FM translator. Steve Moravec of the Phoenix Media Group, a radio broadcasting consultancy group, mentioned Skall's efforts in a Radio World interview about FM translator issues.
Moravec said, "Our long-time client AM 1030 WCTS in the Twin Cities did an excellent job [pursuing] various frequency options as they became available. Their GM Steve Davis and his administration worked with Phoenix Media Group and its technical associate Dave Doherty (Skywaves) throughout the process. Washington counsel Gregg Skall was an invaluable addition to the team as was John Sims of RF Specialties. As a Class B, WCTS was last in the Window 4 line and we are very pleased because we believe its app will be designated a singleton without competition and ready to grant."

Gregg Skall represents broadcasters and other parties in their regulatory dealings before the Federal Communications Commission and in their commercial business dealings. He serves as Washington Counsel to several state broadcaster associations. He also works with telecommunications companies and with radio device manufacturers to obtain FCC approvals.
