Indonesia: Trademark

Indonesia has updated its fee framework for intellectual property (IP)-related government services, with implications for IP owners, licensees, lenders, digital platforms, and businesses operating in the country. Government Regulation No. 30 of 2026 on Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue Applicable to the Ministry of Law (GR 30/2026) was promulgated on July 2, 2026, and will take effect on August 1, 2026.

In February 2025, Indonesia's National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) took decisive action by recalling 91 illegal and hazardous cosmetics and skincare products that lacked proper Distribution Permits. These products were found to contain hazardous substances, including mercury, which with long-term exposure can pose serious health risks, such as an increased risk of cancer.

As part of its continual work to improve Indonesia's intellectual property (IP) e-filing system, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) makes regular updates and upgrades to the system.
