WASHINGTON, D.C.—Womble Bond Dickinson's Steve Middlebrook will speak on "Strategies for Managing Third-Party Servicers and Implementing Robust Compliance Management Systems" at the American Conference Institute's 18th National Forum on Prepaid Card Compliance.

Middlebrook will be joined by Venable's Allyson Baker, Alston & Bird's Duncan Douglass, and The Bancorp's Executive Vice President/Head of Payment Solutions Jeremy Kuiper for a panel discussion on third-party servicer and compliance management. The panelists will discuss:

Identifying the best practices for managing third-party servicers, including expectations for third-party servicers;

Assessing the bank's responsibility of entering into well-constructed, enforceable contracts with third-party program managers;

Weighing challenges associated with FinTech companies and other smaller companies who rely on issuing banks for compliance management systems; and

Ensuring that less sophisticated program managers have the tools they need to understand the regulatory environment and build internal controls.

The ACI Prepaid Card Compliance Forum takes place Jan. 29-31 in Washington, D.C.

Steve Middlebrook has an extensive background in emerging payment technologies, prepaid and stored value products, mobile payments, web-based financial services, virtual currency and distributed ledger technology. His prior experience includes being General Counsel at two FinTech companies, and a decade's service at the US Department of the Treasury. He also served as an advisor to the Uniform Law Commission (ULC) committee which drafted the Uniform Regulation of Virtual Currency Businesses Act. The Uniform Act was recently approved by the ULC and is now being considered for adoption by a number of states.
