Informational Meeting for DEP Contracting Procedures
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) wishes to notify any and all interested parties of its intent to develop and implement a Department-wide procedure to contract for services. This procedure is proposed to make it easier for private businesses/persons to be placed on prequalified lists and submit bids for these jobs and to enable DEP staff to efficiently obtain services from private contractors, in a manner meeting the requirements of the Maine Department of Administrative and Financial Services' Division of Purchases (Title 5, Chapter 155, subchapter 1-A).
The main components are:
- Requests For Proposals (RFP) to create lists of prequalified vendors/bidders for services frequently required by DEP staff.
- Retainer contracts between the State and vendors/bidders found to be qualified in Step 1.
- Competitive emailed bidding by prequalified vendors/bidders in response to requests from DEP staff.
The DEP will host a public informational meeting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at DEP's Response Training Room, 4 Blossom Lane in Augusta. The meeting will be held to explain the process and to seek input from industry, businesses and the general public to better understand the needs or concerns or interested parties and to solicit feedback of possible improvements to the proposed process.
