Order 147/2026 And Iure Sanguinis Citizenship: Referral To The CJEU
Italy's Constitutional Court has referred a critical question to the Court of Justice of the European Union regarding the 2025 reform of Italian citizenship by descent. The case examines whether new restrictions preventing foreign-born individuals with dual citizenship from acquiring Italian nationality comply with EU law, particularly when applied retroactively to people born before the reform.

A Chinese defendant successfully obtained conditional alignment of procedural deadlines in a patent infringement case before the Milan Local Division, despite the claimant's opposition based on the Hong Kong co-defendant's alleged refusal to accept voluntary service. The Court granted the alignment but required immediate acceptance of service by the unserved defendant as a precondition.
